Classical Guitar and Acoustic Guitar
The classical guitar can be called as ‘Spanish Guitar’ or ‘Nylon String Guitar’. Its treble strings(g-b-e) are nylon, bass strings(E-A-d) being made of nylon fiber wound with metal thread. The old tradition classical guitar with animal gut strings are still available today. Classical guitar can be played with note pressing by left hand fingers on the finger board and plucked with right hand fingernails(p-i-m-a)(thumb-index finger-middle finger-ring finger).
We can play the single notes with ‘Rest Stroke’(APOYANDO) or ‘Free Stroke’(TIRANDO). The rest stroke is only used when playing single line notes and scale passages, but not for plucking chords. The free stoke is used for chords and arpeggios mostly. There are still many types of technique can be played by classical guitar.
The acoustic guitar has over a thousand years in use. Its treble strings(g-b-e) are steel. The right-hand player uses their left hand to press the chords with fingers on the fingerboard and strum with their right hand with pick or fingernails(thumb and index finer). Acoustic guitar can also play with plucking method(thumb & pluck, squeeze and arpeggio). The tone of an acoustic guitar is produced by the vibration of the strings, which is amplified by the body of the guitar, which acts as a resonating chamber.
However, classical guitar mostly play for classical music and acoustic guitar plays for pop, country music…etc
